There are 5 stages of regulating emotions that can be done:
1. Situation Selection
The state of a person in choosing a situation based on the choice to socilize or close himself to other people, places and other things to regulate his emotions or regulate his emotions.
*For example, a person who chooses to watch a movie in the evening before an exam instead of having to study, this is done in order to relieve the nervousness he feels, so he chooses to watch a movie. 2. Situation Change
A person who has chosen what situation is appropriate and must modify that codition to have an emotional impact.

3. Attention Deployment
Every situation has different aspects and ways to focus attention.
*For example, a person who does not understand the given task, then he must focus his attention on studying, concentrating or solving problems.
4. Cognitive Change
Cognitive Change determine how many aspects are taken. Someone will view the assignment as very important inn influencing emotions.
*For example someone who is going to take a school exam, he tells himself "this is just a test"not seeing that the exam is something his life.
*Another example, someone who failed in a race, he said to himself "Only by failing in this race i can train even harder and will win in the next race" Instead of seeing failure as the end, he had to give up.
5. Changes in Response
This refers to a person's ability to influence the emotional response that will be displayed.
*For example, someone who is heartbroken will choose to exercise and spend all his energy on it instead of having to cry all
